Summer Vacation Rollercoaster

As a child, summer always seemed like its own rollercoaster ride. There were the weeks of anticipation leading up to summer. I remember sitting in the hot classroom, fidgeting with the excited energy bottled up inside. However did our teachers manage to keep us contained, especially in the few days right before vacation began?
The beginning of summer vacation was like reaching the first highest peak of the rollercoaster. Your car has chugged and clunked its way to the top of the peak, your adrenaline rushes as you anticipate seeing the drop appear.....and as we rushed out of school eager to be free for two whole months it felt like the summer would last forever.
The end of the ride arrived with an abrupt slowing down. You jerked into awareness that there were only two weeks left (or less!) before school started. Where did all the time go? Did you fit enough in? Would there be enough time for one more trip to the amusement park?
The ride jerks to a halt and the safety bar releases. You are back in the world where both feet are on the ground. You look back wistfully at the ride, already anticipating another.
